About Jason Lenz

Jason is an award-winning, educated, and seasoned musician with 20 years of performing experience. His live looping of multiple instruments and vocal harmonies have audiences engaged and staying around to hear more.

His musical beginnings started at home, being raised by musicians - a flutist and middle school band director and a trombonist in a soul horn band. Naturally, Jason’s first instrument to learn was the Tuba. At the age of 12, Jason began taking Bass-Guitar lessons, studying Jazz and learning to play by ear to recordings. Throughout his life, Jason has studied Double Bass and Bass-Guitar with 7 different teachers - giving a wide range of perspective on the instrument. At the age of 17, Jason auditioned and accepted a position with the 43rd Army Band. He served 13 years, performing on Double Bass, Bass-Guitar, Tuba, Vocals, and arranging music for the Music Performance Team “Rock-N-Load”. In 2015, Jason was awarded the Outstanding Military Musician Award - the highest award given to select musicians in all branches of the military.

While in the 43rd Army Band, Jason also earned a Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Jason then taught music for four years in the public school system, while also teaching private lessons. He has experience teaching Guitar, Bass, Brass, Theory, Ear Training, and large ensembles.

Jason is actively gigging in the Northern Colorado area, based out of Estes Park. The music genres and artists he covers are: Grateful Dead, Jazz and Latin Jazz, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Phish, and more. Jason regularly performs in the brewery, winery, restaurant scene. He has performed for birthday parties, weddings, corporate events.
